Sola Aviation Museum

Sola Aviation Museum is located in the old seaplane harbour at Stavanger Airport, Sola. The museum is an impressive sight, with a large collection of airplanes. The museum is mainly run by volunteers who work hard and with lots of enthusiasm, in the museum. They do restoration of old planes, guided tours, and various operational tasks. Beside housing all the jet planes the Norwegian Air Force have previously operated, you will find everything from WWII classics such as Consolidated Catalina and Fieseler Storch, to classics from Norwegian civil aviation in the post-war period amongst the museum’s exhibition of 30 planes.
Through a visit to the Sola Aviation Museum, you get an insight into the fantastic development of aviation, with emphasis on local aviation history from Stavanger Airport Sola's long and rich history. Ever since the airport opened in 1937, as Norway's first civilian airport, and the second in Europe with a permanent runway surface, the airport has played a prominent role in Norwegian aviation, both civilian and military.
